Melvin H. Schramm, age 90 of Hanover, KS, passed away August 17, 2024, at Beatrice, NE.
Visitation was from 3-8 p.m., Tuesday, August 20 at the Hanover Mortuary in Hanover. The family receiveed friends from 5-7 p.m.
The funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 21, at Trinity Lutheran Church. Pastor Rocky Mease officiated.
Pallbearers were Colin Williams , Parker Smith, Brad Schramm, Jay Renfro, Austin Lawrence and Bill Wilgers.
The burial was in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
Melvin was born August 25, 1933, in rural Washington County, Kansas north of Hanover to Henry and Wilhelmina (Klipp) Schramm. They moved to his grandparents’ homestead farm northeast of Trinity Lutheran Church, and this would be his home for the next 88 years of his life. He married Darla in 1975 and this brought two children, Barry and Jami, who Mel loved as his own.
When not farming he enjoyed helping Darla at her business D & L Draperies. He loved to go fishing, mow the lawn, driving his Ranger around the section, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also looked forward to his yearly vacation to Lake of the Ozarks with family and friends.
Preceding him in death are his parents; siblings, Evelyn Meyer and Norbert Schramm; brothers-in-law, Paul Meyer and Rodney Meyer; and nephew, Gordon Meyer.
Survivors include his wife, Darla, Beatrice, NE; children, Barry (Nadine) Smith, Lincoln, NE, Jami (David) Mayfield, Marion, KS; sister, Leona Meyer, Marysville, KS; sister-in-law, Valeda Schramm, Hanover, KS; grandchildren, Chase Williams, Florence, KS, Kayla Williams, Andover, KS, Carly Smith, Lincoln, NE, Colin (Emily) Williams, Manhattan, KS, Parker Smith, Lincoln, NE; and great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Brantley, Kamber, and Kenlee Williams; and many nieces and nephews.
