Michael M. Padgett, 71, of Marysville, Kan., died Sunday, August 12, 2018 at Manhattan.A rosary service will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday, August 16 at St. Gregory's Catholic Church in Marysville.The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, August 17 at St. Gregory's Catholic Church. Father Nathan Haverland will officiate. Sterling Clark and Cindy Voet are the musicians. Hymns are "Here I Am Lord," "Be Not Afraid," "One Bread, One Body," "You Are Mine" and "On Eagles Wings."Pallbearers are Ron Jacques, Kirby Cohorst, Will Gilkerson, Denny Schroller, Steve Mullen and Tim Grauer.Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mike was born at Marysville on November 13, 1946 to Alva (Jack) and Gertrude (Siebenhaar) Padgett. A lifelong resident of Marysville, Mike graduated from Marysville High School in 1964. He served in the U.S. Navy as a radio man from 1964-1968. Mike returned to Marysville and began his career of thirty-eight years with the Union Pacific Railroad. He started as a clerk and retired as an engineer. Mike loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s events and visiting the casino. Mike was a huge sports fan and could be regularly heard cheering at games. He especially loved Marysville High School sports and the KU Jayhawks. Whether playing pool, cards or dominoes, he was very strategic and played to win. Mike loved teaching his grandchildren how to play games. On August 7, 1993, he was united in marriage to Nancy Loob at Las Vegas, Nev. Mike will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Nancy; children, Scott (Joy) Padgett, Renee’ (James) Lyons, Kenny (Sarah) Lee, Brenda (Russ) Arntt, Doug Lee (Molly), Kristi Lee (Matt); nineteen grandchildren and one great grandchild, Kristopher, Shane, Trey, Drew, Jack, Neko, Davis, Connor, Alyssa, Josh, Ashley, Alex, Jason, Madison, Holden, Preston, Natalie, Andee, Kallyn and Ian. Preceding him in death were his parents; and infant daughter, Kimberly Ann.A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
