Mike Vaughn

John “Mike” Vaughn, 76, of Beattie, KS, died February 8, 2020 at Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville. A rosary service will be held at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 14 at St. Malachy's Catholic Church in Beattie.  Father Nathan Haverland will officiate.  The musicians will be Laura O’Neil and Wayne Kruse. The honorary pallbearers will be Levi Darveaux, Tanner Darveaux, Bryce Frakes, Roman Carillo, Laura Carillo, Tessa Allison, Zach Vaughn and Marissa Vaughn. Burial will be at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Beattie. Mike was born October 14, 1943 at Marysville, KS, to John Ivan and Faye L. (McMahon) Vaughn.  He served in the U.S. Army. He was married to Carolyn Clark and later divorced. On January 5, 1994, he married Herlinda Garcia at St. Malachy’s Catholic Church.  They made their home in Beattie. Mike worked as a jobsite supervisor and loved driving trucks.  He worked for Reno Construction, Amino Brothers, Studer Truck Line and Koch Truck Line. He enjoyed going to the casino, hunting, his dogs and spending time with his family.  Mike loved watching the Kansas City Chiefs and their recent Super Bowl win. He was preceded in death by his parents, and stepdad, Carl Lampe. Survivors include his wife, Herlinda; children, Melissa (Vince Rose) Vaughn, Valley Falls, KS, Shawn (Liz) Vaughn, McPherson, KS, Seferino Carrillo, Beattie, Alex Carillo, Topeka, and Richard Chavez, Beattie; 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later.  Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
