Myra was born on July 17, 1922, to Ernest and Clara (Koepp) Keller at Home, KS. She attended Beattie and Marysville High Schools. She received a normal training certificate to teach school at Brooks and Midway Schools. On May 18, 1941, Myra married Orval Stock at Freidan’s Lutheran Church in Home City. They enjoyed 64 years of marriage before Orval’s passing in 2005. They settled on a farm 4 ½ miles west of Summerfield, on the Kansas/Nebraska border and lived there 48 years. Over the years, they raised wheat, corn, soybeans, milo, cattle, pigs, chickens and peacocks. There was nearly always a collie dog on the farm. In the summer there was preserving lots of vegetables and 4-H projects. When it looked like retiring from farming was in their future, they moved to Beattie in 1989, but Myra had always dreamed of living at a particular home, in Marysville. So, two years later, that dream came true. It was her home for 25 years. In 2016, it became apparent she needed more care, so she moved closer to her daughters in the Baldwin City area. She had a strong Christian faith and instilled Christian values in her children. She had memberships to First Lutheran Church and the Dorcas Society in Summerfield and Mount Calvary Church in Marysville. She belonged to the Jayhawk Club in Beattie. Myra was known for her good cooking. It was important that the day started with a good breakfast. For birthdays, she always made from scratch, and Angel Food cake. Because the cake required egg whites, homemade noodles followed the next day. Everyone enjoyed homemade cinnamon rolls, doughnuts, caramel candy at Christmas and Valentine cookies for teachers. Myra kept a daily diary from the time she was married and even until up to her passing. She was known for her perfect handwriting and grammar. Her favorite vacation was to see the mountains in Colorado. She was a faithful watcher of KU basketball. Pinochle and bingo were her favorite games. She also enjoyed playing the piano. Preceding her in death were her parents, Ernest and Clara Keller; and her husband, Orval Stock; brother, Kenneth Keller; sister, Gladys Keller; still-born brother, Merlin; and son-in-law, Joseph Deleon. Survivors include daughters, Jeanette (Galen) Weber, Lawrence, Judy Rahn, Baldwin City, Jane Deleon, Kansas City; son, Joseph (Deb) Stock, Summerfield; six grandchildren, five great grandchildren and three step-grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established to Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary. Funeral for Myra R. Stock. May 21, 2020
