Noel O. Roorda

Noel Orrin Roorda, a gentle and faithful soul, age 59, of Summerfield, KS, passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at the Village Villa in Nortonville, KS winning his battle over cancer. A graveside service with military honors is planned on Saturday, July 18, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at the Summerfield City Cemetery in Summerfield, KS with Pastor Stuckwisch of the First Lutheran Church presiding. Noel was born on June 14, 1961 in Des Moines, IA to Marvin and Gertrude (Schultz) Roorda. He celebrated and confirmed his baptismal vows through the Rite of Confirmation into the Christian faith at Trinity Lutheran Church, Boone, IA in 1976. Noel graduated from Boone High School in 1980, attended Concordia College in St. Paul, MN, and DMACC. He had a varied and interesting career life, including serving in the US Army in 1986-88. He was disabled and living in Summerfield, KS since 2009. He enjoyed supporting St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, playing the piano and violin, and sharing his faith. Noel is survived by his dear friend, Pieter (Stacy) Cloyed of Beatrice, NE, siblings, Byron (Dolores) Roorda of Pearland, TX and Kristin (Christopher) Soder of Boone, IA, five nieces and nephews, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and an infant brother, Marvin DeWayne Roorda. A memorial fund is established by the family and will be made for a future designation.
