Norman W. Grauer, 91, of Marysville, Kan., died March 22, 2019 at Cambridge Place in Marysville. Visitation was Wednesday, March 27, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 28 at the Marysville United Methodist Church. Burial was in the Marysville City Cemetery. Norman was born in Marysville on January 5, 1928 to Emil and Gladys (Chadwell) Grauer. In 1947, he graduated from Marysville High School. He entered the U.S. Air Force, December 28, 1948 and was honorably discharged September 5, 1952. On January 18, 1953, he was united in marriage to Ruth Ann Schwindaman in Marysville. They were blessed with four sons. Norman worked for the Union Pacific Railroad, retiring after 43 years. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, American Legion SMNR Post #163, VFW Post #2699 and the Union Pacific Old Timers Club. Norman was treasurer of Carmen’s Union, 20 years and was a ticket taker, 45 plus years for the American Legion Baseball Assoc. Norman was very family oriented, he enjoyed attending family reunions, and spending time with family on holidays. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Norman enjoyed gardening, golfing, fishing, playing cards and going to the casinos. He was an avid sports fan, and followed the Kansas City Chiefs, Oklahoma City Thunder, Kansas City Royals and KU Jayhawks. Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Ruth Ann; brothers, Maurice Grauer, Harold Grauer; and sister, Waneta McMillian. Survivors include his four sons, David (Phyllis) Grauer, Plain City, OH, Douglas (Bette) Grauer, Manhattan, Daniel (Joyce) Grauer, Council Bluffs, IA, Dennis (Sharlyn) Grauer, Shawnee; sister, Maureen Moser, Marysville; nine grandchildren, Allison, Kevin, Diana, Laura, Ryan, Tiffany, Alisha, Megan and Tyler; and fourteen great grandchildren, Gavin, Skylar, Lilyanne, Hudson, Harper, Calder, Barrett, Laura, Lucas, Clayton, Daniel, Annabelle, Samuel and Marley. A memorial fund is established to the United Methodist Church or American Legion Baseball. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
