Olinda M. Strifler

Olinda M. Strifler, 95, of Marysville, Kan., died August 20, 2018 at Cambridge Place in Marysville.Visitation was Friday, August 24 from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville.  The family  received friends from 5 to 7 p.m.A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 25 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Marysville. Pastor Philip Miller officiated.  Deb Landoll was organist and the congregation sang "How Great Thou Art" and "Amazing Grace."Pallbearers were Donovan Strifler, Mike Leiber, Shaun Strifler, Dave Roever, Derek Roever, Conner Kohlmeyer and Garrett Kohlmeyer.Burial was in the Marysville City Cemetery. Olinda was born on October 23, 1922 to Andrew and Alma (Fragel) Armstrong at Marysville.  She graduated Marysville High School in 1941. She married Melvin Watters Sr. on April 5, 1942.  He preceded her in death.  On June 28, 1947, she married Richard D. Strifler. Olinda was a homemaker and loved to cook.  She was well known for her potato salad and especially her pies.  She was a 4-H leader for several years and volunteered with RSVP.  Olinda would deliver meals and helped wherever she was needed.  She won an award for her years of service.  She was a member of the H2Oville Club thru the extension office for over 60 years.  Olinda would host family gatherings, birthdays, holidays, reunions, it didn’t matter.  She just loved people and especially spending time with her grandchildren.  Preceding her in death were her parents; both husbands, Melvin and Richard; and twin grandsons. Survivors include, children, Melvin (Sheryl) Watters, Greenleaf; Jim (Jo-Ann) Watters, South Elgin, IL; Vickie (Duane) Kalous. Derby; William (Ann) Strifler, Bennington; nine grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; and brother Willie (Mary) Armstrong, Marysville.A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later.  Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
