Marysville, KS

Pamela K. Stohs, 73, of Marysville, died January 3, 2025, at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca.

Services are pending.

Pam was born on June 19, 1951, along with her twin brother, Stan, in Marysville to Harvey and Norma (Maendele) Busch. She grew up in Marysville and graduated from Marysville High School. Pam took several college courses through Highland Community College.

On November 9, 1973, she was united in marriage to Leonhard Stohs, Jr and to this union three sons and a daughter were born. Pam ran a daycare while raising her children. She was a substitute Para at MHS while her son Lucas attended high school and then worked for Luckeroth Masonry for many years until she retired.

Pam was a strong advocate for her son, Lucas, with special needs. She made a trip to Philadelphia to meet with doctors, organized a group of women volunteers to help with daily physical and respiratory needs for Lucas and made several trips to Topeka with Lucas to the Capper Foundation. Pam dedicated twenty-two years to making sure Lucas was given every chance to be as normal as his “normal” was.

Pam loved the monthly pastor visits to read scriptures and take communion. She especially loved listening to the pastor sing to her. She asked him to sing to her in the hospital and made sure her door was open to share with everyone. Pam was firm in her convictions and had a very close relationship with the Lord. She helped with Sunday School when attending Zion Lutheran in Herkimer and attended bible study until her health would no longer allow. She enjoyed the yearly visit from the church Christmas Carolers.

Family was foremost the most important thing to her. Visits from the grandchildren and great grandchildren during the holidays were the best. Pam had a strong relationship with each of her children and put them all ahead of her. She would have morning coffee with her “girls”, birthday lunches with her sisters and lunch dates with her longtime and dear friend Kathy (aka Smurf).

Gardening, reading books, coloring, watching the hummingbirds out her kitchen window and playing games on her iPad were some of her favorite interests. Facebook helped her keep up with family and friends. She also loved watching reality shows, KU basketball games and KC Chiefs games. She and Leonhard would watch the Wheel of Fortune every night after the six o’clock news.

Pam will be remembered as having strong convictions in her beliefs, always believing that anything was possible if you tried. Being disappointed was a part of life and shouldn’t keep you from trying again.

Preceding her in death were her parents; son, Lucas Stohs, brothers, Leo, Ronn, Gary, Steve, Stan (her twin) and Rick; and sister, Terri Luckeroth.

Survivors include her husband, Leonhard; children, Angela Jones, Marysville, Jonathan Stohs, Bennington and Nathan Stohs, Marysville; grandchildren, Shane (Wendy) Roever, Cassidy (Mike) Lister, Kaide Jones, Taylor Stohs, Alyvia Stohs, Thane Stohs, Major Stohs and Azaira Stohs; and great grandchildren, Clara, Lincoln and Ryah Roever, Crew and Sunnie Lister, plus one due in March; sisters, Linda (Bryon) Nemechek, Waterville, Kathy Busch, Omaha, NE, Brenda Busch, Centralia; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial fund is established in her name and will be designated later by the family. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary, Marysville, KS.
