Patricia O'Neil

Patricia O'Neil, 86, of Beattie, Kan., died June 12, 2019 at Lincoln, Neb. Visitation is Sunday, June 16, from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville, Kan. A rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Sunday at St. Malachy's Catholic Church in Beattie. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 17 at St. Malachy's Catholic Church.  Father Anthony Chendumalli will officiate.  The musicians will be “Be Not Afraid”, “The Summons”, “On Eagles Wings”, “When Irish Eyes are Smiling” and “Irish Blessings”. The pallbearers will be Ryan O’Neil, Bill Ryan, Tom O’Neil, Rob Olmsted, Ron O’Neil and Jay Schneider. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery north of Beattie. Patricia was born January 6, 1933 in Tulsa, Okla., to William and Lucie (Hanratty) Farrell.  She attended school at Ursuline Academy in Paola, Kan., and earned a bachelor’s degree from Benedictine College in Atchison, Kan. She came to Beattie by bus to start her teaching career which eventually spanned 40 years.  This included teaching students in Beattie, Home City and Baileyville.  Patricia loved working with kids. On April 28, 1956, she was united in marriage to John Dennis O’Neil at St. Malachy’s Catholic Church.  To this union two sons were born, Shawn and Kevin. Patricia was very active in the church and Guild at St. Malachy’s.  She was also a part of the Delta Kappa Gamma teaching sorority.  She loved her two grandchildren deeply and did her best to spoil them whenever she could. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sister, Sheila Ryan. Survivors include her sons, Shaun O’Neil and Kevin (Jodi) O’Neil, all of Beattie; and two grandchildren, Bryar and Brynn. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later.  Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
