Paul Gaston

d. May 26, 2018

Paul Meredith Gaston, 64, of Marysville, Kan., passed from this life to his heavenly home on May 26, 2018.  He died peacefully in his home of natural causes.  He was born to Max and Mary Nork Gaston on January 15, 1954 in Seneca, Kan.  He has a brother, Douglas Gaston of Kansas City and a host of grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.  Mary Nork Gaston and Gloria Ousdahl Gaston, his step-mother, preceded him in death.Paul attended Marysville High School, graduating in 1972.  He went to Kansas State University and received his degree in Radio and TV. He spent his entire career in radio, predominantly at KNDY in Marysville. His interests were his family, sports and all things K-State.  Paul never missed a family get together, and fortunately there were many of those, as he had a large extended family. In addition to the family in Marysville, he visited the Nork family in Topeka on special occasions.  His Uncle Jim Nork was a constant friend, sharing many hours over meals together. Paul’s Kansas City family cherished him and all the celebrations that were shared over 40 years.  His memory for important dates and family history was a regular source of information to all our delight. He was a kind, gentle person who loved unconditionally. From an early age he was drawn to sports and could recite batting averages and key statistics of the top players of the era. In recent years, he was a strong supporter of all K-State sports. Having season tickets, he went to all the games and several K-State bowl games as well.  He was an avid reader, spending time in book stores and volunteering at the Marysville library. He probably read every book published about K-State sports in the last twenty years. He was a huge K-State fan whose wardrobe was predominantly purple!Paul was active in Marysville activities including the Kiwanis Club, having held offices during the years. Paul seemed to know everyone in town and they all knew him.  One couldn’t sit at The Wheel or Penny’s Diner or CJ’s without having many others come by the table and say, “Hi Paul!"He is survived by his father, Max Gaston of Marysville, Kansas; his brother, Douglas Gaston {wife Rozanne} of Kansas City; nephews and niece, Daniel Gaston {wife, Brenda}, David Gaston and Lauren Vestal {husband, Daniel} all of Kansas City. Jackson and Joshua Vestal and Adelyn Gaston will miss their Uncle Paul at their family celebrations. Paul is greatly loved and cherished for the man he had become.  His family will greatly miss his big laughs and his kindness.Funeral services will be held at Memorial Presbyterian Church, 200 N 10th St., Marysville, Kan. 66508, on Thursday, May 31st at 11:00 a.m. Family will receive visitors an hour before services at the church. The pallbearers will be Doug Gaston, Dan Gaston, David Gaston, Lynn Mayer, David Mayer and Kevin Malone.Visitation will also be Wednesday, May 30, from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville.A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later.  Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
