Randy D. Jones

Randy D. Jones, age 62, of Marysville, Kansas, passed away on January 1, 2025 surrounded by family.

He was born on September 18, 1962, in Seneca, Kansas. Randy was the son of Robert and Shirley (Ellis) Jones. He graduated from Frankfort High School in 1980. Following his graduation, Randy dedicated over 40 years to Bruce's Body Shop in Marysville, and also selflessly served as an EMT with the Marysville ambulance service for 38 years.

On August 22, 1987, Randy married Kathi Cohorst at St. Gregory's Catholic Church. Together, they built a loving family that was the center of his life. Randy cherished spending time with his family and grandchildren, and smoking meat (sometimes painfully slowly) for family and friends.

Randy was always a giver, often going out of his way to help others. Everyone knew they could count on him in times of need, and if he couldn’t help directly, he always knew someone who could.  He was a shining example of kindness and selfless service who will be loved and remembered fondly by his family, friends, and anyone who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, David Jones. Randy is survived by his beloved wife, Kathi; their children, Bryant (Jamie) Jones of Waterville, Caleb (Brittney) Jones of Topeka, Dylan (Taylor) Jones of Beattie, and Ashlyn Jones of Marysville; five cherished grandchildren, Parker, Olivia, Natalie, Easton, and Evan; as well as his siblings, Pamela (Robert) Schamberger of Collyer, Kansas, and Steven Jones of Frankfort.

Visitation was held at St Gregory's Catholic Church in Marysville, where the family received friends at 7:00 pm, followed by a rosary at 8 pm on Friday, January 3. The funeral service was held at the church on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 10:30 am, with Father Quentin Schmitz officiating.  The pallbearers were Kole Davoren, Ian Detimore, Brycen Detimore, Tristin Detimore, Austin Cadwell and Kody Davoren.

In honor of Randy's memory, a memorial fund has been established, with designations to be determined later. Contributions can be made in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
