On Saturday, February 8, 2020, Raymond O’Neil, loving husband and father to three adoring daughters passed away at age 84. Visitation is Wednesday, February 12, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary, Marysville. A rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, at St. Malachy's Catholic Church in Beattie. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 13 at St. Malachy's Catholic Church. Father Jim Shaughnessy will officiate. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, north of Beattie. The pallbearers will be Tom O’Neil, Doug O’Neil, Dan O’Neil, Ryan O’Neil, Carl Kopp and Dan Kopp. The honorary pallbearers will be Shaun O’Neil, Kevin O’Neil, Cathy LeSage, Mike Blumer, Dana McClellan, Alan Naaf and Raymond Kramer. Ray was born on September 7, 1935 in Axtell, KS, to Maurice and Julia (Alders) O’Neil. He is the older brother to Franklin O’Neil. A lifelong resident of Beattie, he attended St. Malachy’s Grade School and graduated from Beattie High School in 1953. He began farming with his father as a young boy and continued to farm and raise cattle his entire life. He served our country during the Vietnam War and was a member of the American Legion Post 163 in Marysville, KS. On April 15, 1967, he married Marilyn Keegan at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Axtell. They celebrated 52 years of marriage together. Ray served his community as Township Trustee and County Commissioner. He was a weather reporter for the National Weather Service for 40 years. He was a faithful member of St. Malachy’s Catholic Church and a Grand Knight with Council 1777 of the Knights of Columbus in Marysville. Ray was an avid collector of Allis-Chalmers tractors and spent over 60 years collecting AC tractors and parts. Through the power of the Internet he was friends with fellow collectors from across the country. He attended many “Days of Orange” festivals over the years meeting friends from all over the United States. Ray is preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Mary Ellen (1939). He is survived by his wife Marilyn; three daughters and sons-in-law: Kelly and Kevin Murray, Arlington, VA; Sheila and Christopher Sillitto, Roswell, GA; and Mary Pat and Jim Rick, New Berlin, WI; and eight grandchildren; Patrick Murray, Sean Murray, Ian Murray, Ryan Murray, Peter Sillitto, Lucy Sillitto, Caroline Rick and Ben Rick. A memorial fund has been established to St. Malachy's Catholic Church for masses. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
