Richard G. Beveridge, 85, of Lincoln, NE, died July 13, 2024, at Tabitha Nursing Home in Lincoln, NE.
A graveside funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 18, at the Marysville City Cemetery.
Richard was born April 6, 1939, at Marysville, son of Mariom and Marie R. (Zech) Beveridge, suffering from Erb's Palsy his whole life because of the incompetence and impatience of a small down doctor.
Richard had the love and support of his family. He and his mother took many bus trips to Manhattan, KS, for speech therapy and guidance. After countless hours of his mother tutoring and hard work on his part, he proudly graduated from Fairbury High School in 1958.
Later, the family move to Omaha, NE, where he worked for "Mrs. B's" at Nebraska Furniture Mart in the warehouse. It was tough work! Richard recalled that Mrs. B, the founder and owner of NFM, would ride her scooter through the warehouse every Friday morning to hand out donuts to her employees.
Following the death of his parents, Richard moved to Lincoln, NE. He and his brother, Jim, owned and operated "The Pool Room" on 'O' Street.
After strokes claimed most of his mobility, he became a resident of Tabitha Nursing Home in 1997. His aunt, Lucille Bull, was very much instrumental in getting him the care he needed.
Proceeding him in death were his parents; brother, M. David Beveridge; grandparents; aunts; and uncles.
Survivors include his brother, Jim (Gayle) Beveridge, Lincoln, NE; niece, Jill (Kevin) Kroeger, Elkhorn, NE; nephews, Michael (Brenda) Beveridge, Columbus, NE, Matthew Beveridge, Lincoln, NE, and Ryan (Trisha) Beveridge, Woodland Hills, CA; and several cousins and friends that have cross Richard's path throughout the years.
Now you can run, Richard! Run to those in heaven that are waiting for you.
A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary, P.O. Box 147, Marysville, KS 66508.
