Richard L. Estes

Richard L. Estes, 71, of Marysville, Kan., died March 4, 2019 at his home. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 16 at the United Methodist Church in Marysville.  Rev. Dale Lewis will officiate. Private family burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Richard was born June 30, 1947 at Blue Rapids, Kan., to Orville and Hazel (Wilkinson) Estes.  In 1965, he graduated from Blue Rapids High School and entered the U.S. Navy.  In 1968, he was honorably discharged. On September 15, 1979, he married Sherry Leupold at the United Methodist Church in Manhattan, Kan. Richard worked in auto repair for Baker Motors in Marysville, Briggs Jeep Eagle in Manhattan and other car dealerships.  He loved the outdoors, gardening, yardwork and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert Estes and Don Estes; and sister, Betty Hanner. Survivors include his wife, Sherry; son, Jeffrey (Shannon) Estes, DeCalb, Tex.; daughter, Jennifer Shiveler; stepdaughter, Kerri Zimmerling, Kansas City, Mo.; sister, June (Tom) O’Donnell, Wathena, Kan.; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
