Rita M. Brinkley, 69, of Blue Rapids, KS, passed away August 12, 2024, at Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville.
A visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m., Sunday, August 18 at Kinsley Mortuary. The family received friends from 4 to 6 p.m.
A funeral service was at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 19 at Kinsley Mortuary. Rev. Shannon Borgman officiated. Burial followed in the McPherson Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.
Rita was born on June 26, 1955, in Orange County, California, to Bob and Fredda (Porter) Williams. In 2011, she moved to Blue Rapids.
She drove a school bus and helped cook for nursing homes. She also played a major role in her siblings' lives, helping raise them along with her own children. Often, she would play bingo at the Salina and Marysville Legion. Rita was known to be a very happy person and had a good sense of humor. She also made a good chili bean taco that her family loved.
Preceding her in death are her parents; ex-husband, Jim Sain in 2007; and brother, Carl Hedden.
Survivors include her children, David Sain, Beatrice, NE, Matthew Sain, Blue Rapids, and Cynthia Ochoa, McPherson, KS; siblings, Ramona Lopez, Mary Birdsong, Michael Sharp and Gary Hedden; and eight grandchildren.
A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary, P.O. Box 147, Marysville, KS 66508.
