Dr. Robert Arthur Griffin Sr., 85, Frankfort, passed away Friday, December 2, 2022 at his home. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Sunday, December 18 at Padden Funeral Chapel in Frankfort, KS. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 19 at Annunciation Catholic Church in Frankfort. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Robert was born on September 26, 1937 to Amos and Nina (Chadwick) Griffin in Colby, KS. After graduating from Colby High School, he served in the Marine Corp from 1956 to 1959. Upon his return from the service, he married Mary Rose Berls on September 5, 1959 in Selden, KS. To this union, four children were born. He worked for the gas company and the United Postal Service for some years after his return. Later, he attended Colby Junior College for two years and then proceeded to attend Kansas State University and received his doctorate degree in Veterinary Medicine. After his graduation from Kansas State, Robert and his family moved to Frankfort in 1974 and began working at the Animal Clinic P.A. until retirement. Robert was a member of the VFW, Rotary and AVMA. He enjoyed golfing, reading, and spending time with his family. Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Mary Rose; brothers, Royal, Fred, Claude and Dewey; sister, Nina Farmer; and grandson, Ryan Anderson. Survivors include children, Laura Marie (Fred) Yaap, Wichita, KS, Dr. Robert Arthur (Terri) Griffin Jr., Frankfort, KS, Gary Michael (Lori) Griffin, Louisburg, KS, and Susan Ann Kite, Scott City, KS; grandchildren, Kyle Anderson and Tesla, Matt Anderson, Megan (Garret) Parthemer and children, Gabe, Brody, Autumn and Summer, Jessica (Brandon) Marean and children, Braelynne, Griffin and Everleigh, Taylor (Colton) McKnight and Aspen, Gentry (Drew) Harding and children, Rowan, Leighton and Hayes, Garrett (Sonya) Griffin and children Harper and Reese, Shelby (Ryan) Feely and children Teagan, Sage and Hudson, and Drew (Emily) Kite; and sisters Opal Linville and Beverly Huessmann. A memorial fund has been established to Frankfort EMS. Contributions may be sent in care of Padden Funeral Chapel, Frankfort.
