Robert Springer, Hanover, died Thursday, November 26, 2020 in Lincoln, NE. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m., Sunday, November 29 at Hanover Mortuary. Masks will be required. A private funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 30 at the Hanover Mortuary. Burial will be in the Hanover City Cemetery. Robert was born to Noble Jacob and Savilla Marie Zabel Springer on October 14, 1932 in Manhattan, Kansas. He attended grade school in Garrison, Kansas and graduated from Randolph High School in 1950. Robert then attended Chillicothe Business College in Chillicothe, Missouri to study telegraphy. He served in the Army and was stationed in Germany. After serving in the military, Robert worked for the Union Pacific Railroad as a telegraph clerk until he retired in 1994. On July 9, 1956, Robert was married to Judy Kay Burgman. They had three children together, Susan Lynn, Douglas Robert, and Nancy Kay. Robert was a member of Barnes United Methodist Church, Veterans of Foreign War of Green, Kansas, American Legion of Hanover, and the National Association of Retired Veteran Railroad Employees. Robert enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening. He also loved traveling with his wife to all fifty states, Mexico, Sweden, Denmark, and all provinces of Canada. Robert leaves behind his wife of sixty-four years, Judy of the home; daughter Susan (Maurice) Friedrichs of Marysville; son Douglas Springer of Hanover; daughter, Nancy Springer of Salina; grandsons Justin Springer, Jacob Friedrichs, Michael Shirk, and Brady Shirk; and two great grandsons, Cohen and Bentley Springer. He is also survived by three sisters-in-law, Alyce Springer, Sharon Harding, and Sandy (Charles) Rightmeier and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Eldon Springer. Memorials are suggested for the United Methodist Church of Barnes and The Marysville Union Pacific Depot.
