Ronald Eldon Ewing of Colorado Springs, CO, formerly of Frankfort, passed away December 30, 2022. A graveside service at the Frankfort Cemetery will be held Saturday, May 27th at 10:30 am with a light lunch to follow at the Frankfort United Methodist Church. Ronald was born on November 20, 1938 in Reserville, KS to Eldon and Virginia (Anderson) Ewing, the second of five children. Ron attended Frankfort High School, graduating in 1956. He moved to Topeka, KS working for Santa Fe for a brief period before beginning in construction with Highland Homes and Kencraft, building homes in Topeka, KS. He moved to Florida in the late 1960s to start Vista Properties for the partners of Highland Homes, building retirement condominium communities. Ron got his Florida General Contracting license in the early 70’s, and became a partner in Vista Properties. By 1978 he was President of the company and they were expanding to develop single family homes in Houston, TX. Ron was an active member of the Association of General Contractors of America, serving as president of the Florida East Coast Chapter. He also was a partner in chartering a bank in Vero Beach in the late 80’s. It grew to two branches before being acquired by a larger bank 10 years later. He retired in 2000 after a 40 year career. Ron was an avid golfer throughout his adult life, and made numerous trips to Northern Ireland to play the links there. After retiring, Ron and Stephanie moved to Manhattan, KS for a number of years where they enjoyed being closer to his family in Frankfort. They then moved to Colorado Springs, CO where they made many friends in their new neighborhood. Ron enjoyed being able to look out on Pikes Peak from his front porch. Ron is survived by his wife Stephanie; his daughter Carey (Jeff, deceased) Erickson, (granddaughters Elizabeth and Samantha); son Scott (Barbra) Ewing (granddaughter Grace [Jared] May and grandson Chris.) He is also survived by his sisters Kay (Larry, deceased) Haskin and Barbara (Ted) Forst, his brother David Ewing, and his former wife Diane Ewing, mother of his children. He was preceded in death by parents Eldon and Virginia Ewing, and his brother John (Marsha, deceased) Ewing.
