Roy O. Dierking

Roy Dierking, 76, of Herkimer, KS, died February 19, 2024, at the Hanover Hospital.  

A visitation was held Sunday, February 25, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary.  The family received friends from 4-6:30 p.m. at the mortuary.

A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, February 26 at Immanuel (Hermansberg) Lutheran Church northeast of Bremen, KS.  Rev. Aaron T. Fenker, Sr. officiated.

The pallbearers were Lynn Holle, Eugene Bock, Dyllon Holle, Aaron Bock, Dan Duever, Gary Duever, Clay Pralle and Steve Crome.

Burial took place at Zion – Mt. Calvary Lutheran Cemetery, north of Herkimer, KS.

Roy was born on July 19, 1947, to Frederick “Fritz” and Elda (Westermann) Dierking on the family farm.  In 1965, he graduated from Marysville High School.  After high school, he began working at City Sewing in Marysville until he was drafted into the National Guard in Colorado.  In 1969, he was discharged and upon his return home, he worked for Strader Drilling and farmed.  When his dad retired, Roy took over the family farming operation.

In his free time, Roy enjoyed a variety of hobbies. He loved to go on fishing trips and hunt racoons.  Roy also found enjoyment in country cruising and watching his cows.  When he wasn’t outside, he was watching sports or an old western show.

Preceding him in death were his parents and brother, John Dierking. 

Survivors include his sister, Ethel (Delmer) Kruse, Ozawkie, KS; sister-in-law, Charlene Dierking, Littleton, CO; and several nieces and nephews. 

A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later.  Contributions may be sent in the care of Kinsley Mortuary.
