Samantha Aibhlinn Ekstrum, 8-year-old daughter of Matthew and Brittany (Musk) Ekstrum of Vermillion, KS, passed away on November 1, 2023, at Children's Mercy Adele Hall Campus in Kansas City, MO.
Visitation was Friday, November 10, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary.
A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 11, at the Marysville Berean Church. Pastor Joel Barber and Pastor Jeff Swanson officiated. The song leader was Frank Shoemaker and music included "What A Friend We Have in Jesus", "Even If", "Jesus Paid It All", "It Is Well With My Soul", and "Day by Day."
The pallbearers were Levi Pinnick, Chad Vacha, Whit Hancock and Adam Peterson.
The honorary pallbearers were Ben Throm and Josh Kinkaid.
Burial was in the Salem Lutheran Cemetery, south of Axtell, KS.
Samantha was born May 30, 2015, at Hiawatha, KS, to Matthew and Brittany (Musk) Ekstrum. She attended Frankfort Elementary School and was in the third grade. During her time at school, she enjoyed her teachers, the staff, and the friends she made.
Samantha liked to listen to music, watch activities going on around her, interacting with people, and having them talk to her. She also enjoyed watching princess movies.
She attended Marysville Berean Church with her parents, and is now with her heavenly Father.
She was well loved by all and known for wearing colorful bows that highlighted her bright blue eyes and beautiful smile.
Survivors include her parents; siblings, Kyle, Jack, and Faye Ekstrum; grandparents, Benny and Jolene Ekstrum, Vermillion, Stanley and Brenda Musk, Tioga, LA; great-grandmother, Mavis Musk, Lake Charles, LA; aunts and uncles, Ashley (Whit) Hancock, Charlotte, NC, Deborah Musk, Tioga, LA, Catherine Musk, Tioga, LA, Kelsey (Adam) Peterson, McPherson, KS, and Trina (Josh) Kinkaid, McPherson, KS; cousins, Blake, Simon, and Lucy Hancock, Andrew, Clara, Abigail, and Caleb Peterson, and James Kinkaid.
She is preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Leonard Musk, Ira and Betty Cain, Virgil and Florence Ekstrum, and Raymond and Frances Woodworth.
A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
