Scott A. Thorngate, 54, of Marysville, KS, passed away May 27, 2023, at his home. A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 3, at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. Scott was born September 14, 1968, in Lincoln, NE, to George and Virginia (Cummins) Thorngate. In 1986, he graduated high school from Lincoln Northeast. On May 13, 1989, Scott was united in marriage to Denise. Scott managed DaVinci’s Restaurant in Lincoln for 16 years before moving to Marysville in 2004 when he began working for the Union Pacific Railroad. Scott worked as a conductor and was a certified locomotive engineer. Scott enjoyed riding bikes, gardening, and working on projects with his family. He was preceded in death by his father, George. Survivors include his wife, Denise; children, Brandon (Cory Norgren) Thorngate and Megan (Dillon) Blake, all of the Lawrence, KS area; grandchildren, Miles and Harper Blake; mother, Virginia Thorngate, Marysville; and brothers, Rodney Thorngate, Marysville, David (Paula) Thorngate, Washington state, and Bradley Thorngate, Missouri. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
