Sharon was born to Loyal and Alice (Bernasek) McAtee on November 19, 1946, in Axtell, Kansas. She graduated from Axtell High School in 1964.
Sharon grew up the youngest of five children. She enjoyed many adventures with her siblings. Her dream growing up was to have a pony. This dream would come to fruition many years later when her dear husband, Gary, gifted her the pony she had waited so long for.
On September 11, 1966, Sharon was united in marriage to Gary Frank Kabriel at the United Methodist Church in Axtell. To this union, they were blessed with two sons.
Sharon was steadfast in her faith. She was a member of the Marysville Berean Church and enjoyed participating in church activities. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, aunt, sister, grandmother, and friend. Sharon and Gary loved traveling together and over the past few years shared this love by including their granddaughter, Kaylee. Fond memories include joyous family reunion skits, singing the McAtee family song, baking cherry pies and kolaches, researching family genealogy, and ensuring time with family was always time well spent.
Preceding her in death are her parents; siblings, Richard, Gene, & Stanley McAtee, and her son, Mark Kabriel. We take comfort knowing that they were at the gates of Heaven awaiting her arrival.
Survivors include her husband, Gary; son, Brian (Stephanie) Kabriel; granddaughter, Kaylee Kabriel; sister, Darleen Porting; and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family requests donations be made in Sharon’s name to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 7023, Merrifield, VA, 22116-7023.
