April 22, 1934 — June 16, 2019

Sharon E. Owen, 85, Frankfort, died Sunday, June 16, 2019. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m., Thursday, June 20 at Padden Funeral Chapel, Frankfort.   Rosary service will be at 7 p.m., Thursday at Annunciation Catholic Church, Frankfort. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Friday, June 21 at Annunciation Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Sharon was born April 22, 1934 in Frankfort KS, to John and Anna (Hessel) Ahern. She married Dale Owen October 17, 1953.  They were married 51 blessed years. He preceded her in death in August of 2005. She attended Annunciation Catholic School and Frankfort High School graduating in 1952.  Her very first job was at Western Adjustment and inspection in Kansas City, KS, Sharon enjoyed spending time family, friends and numerous activities. Her only request is that the grandchildren be good in church or they would get the look. Her favorite Holiday was Christmas and delivering Cinnamon rolls to friends. Sharon was most proud of being Mayor for the city of Frankfort for 24 years and City Council 6 years prior to that. Her grandkids  loved her being Mayor because they felt like they had the run of the town when they were here.  She was very active in the American Legion Auxiliary and served as First District President and Director of Sunflower Girls State. Sharon was an active member in Frankfort Rotary and served as President and was awarded the distinguish Paul Harris Fellow.  She volunteered for years with many different organizations, Census Bureau, Catechism Teacher, Kansas American Heart Association, She was a caregiver for many people here in Frankfort. For 30 plus years, she worked with Padden Funeral Home, which was very rewarding to her. Whenever any of us kids called and asked where Mom was Dad would tell us she was down babysitting at Padden’s. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Anna (Hessel) Ahern,, by her siblings, Johnny Clement Ahern, Gene Ahern, Justin Ahern, Rosemay (Ahern) Rundle, Robert (Bob) Ahern, Bernard Ahern,, Barbara (Ahern) Rotert , Shirley Ahern, twin sister Sheila (Ahern) Lucas. Survivors include, her children, Patrick (Phyllis) Owen Olathe, KS, Kellene (Tim) Polson Fairbury, NE,  Erin Owen, Frankfort, KS, Kevin (Lisa) Owen, Eagle, ID, Sheila (Bart) Welch, Cave Creek, AZ: 15 grandchildren, Abbie  and Chad Fuqua, Kyle Owen, Zachary Owen, Cody and Hayley Owen, Jackson and Chloe Langtree-Welch, Anthony Polson, Mattie and Jeff Stowell, Austin Welch, Elizabeth and Mitchell Spanel, Owen Welch: 4 great grandchildren, Evan, Cavan and Finn Fuqua, Emmy Ruth Owen., and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. A memorial fund is established and will be designated later.  Contributions may be sent in care of Padden Funeral Chapel, Frankfort.
