Sheryl A. Gerstner, 77, of Frankfort, KS, died October 10, 2024, at the Frankfort Community Care Home.
Visitation was on Monday, October 14, from 1-5 p.m. at Padden Funeral Chapel. A rosary service began at 7 p.m. at Annunciation Catholic Church in Frankfort.
A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 15, at Annunciation Catholic Church. Father Anthony Chendumalli and Father Jim Shaughnessy officiated. Marilyn Dressman played the organ and the vocalist was Bill Gallagher. Music included "Here I Am, Lord", "You Are Mine", "One Bread, One Body", "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art."
The pallbearers were Chelsea Smith, Jonathan Keating, Julia Studer, Jansen Gerstner, Johanna Studer, Jacqueline Studer, Caroline Studer.
Burial was in Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Frankfort.
Sheryl was born on April 16th, 1947, to Glenys Anna Marie (Plegge) Vopata and Rudolph Vopata in Marysville, KS. She went to grade school in Marysville, attended the Winifred school, and graduated from Frankfort High School in 1965. On November 26th, 1966, she was united in marriage to Gerald Lloyd Gerstner in Frankfort at Annunciation Catholic Church. They would have been married 58 years. While raising their three kids, she helped Gerald on the farm. During the 1980s, she worked at T&C Converters in Frankfort, in the lunchroom at the Frankfort school, and later worked in the office at Annunciation Catholic Church. She enjoyed her grandkids and attending their activities, whether it was sporting events or cattle shows. Sheryl also enjoyed traveling with Gerald to various destinations. In 2000, she beat breast cancer and in 2003 was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease which she battled until the end. Proceeding her in death is her parents.
Survivors include her husband, Gerald; children, Jodi (Steve) Keating, Jerry (Shannon) Gerstner, and Jane (Charlie) Studer all of Frankfort; grandchildren, Chelsea (Chandler) Smith, Jonathan (Jordan) Keating, Julia Studer, Jansen Gerstner, Johanna Studer, Jacqueline Studer, and Caroline Studer; and great-grandchildren, Kendall, Joc, and Klyde Keating.
