Shirley R. George, 85, of Marysville, KS, died June 19, 2021 at Cambridge Place in Marysville. A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 24 at St. Gregory's Catholic Church in Marysville. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery at Clyde, KS. Shirley was born on October 10, 1935 to Raymond and Frances (Snyder) Richard at Glasco, KS. In 1953, she graduated Concordia High School, Concordia. On October 19, 1955, she was united in marriage to Eddie George and to this union three children were born, Jim, Dorothy and Ed. They lived on a farm in St. Joe, KS and later moved to Grand Lake, CO, where Shirley was an office manager for Timberline Medical Center, for sixteen years. She then managed clothing stores in Grand Lake and Copper Mountain until retiring and moving to Mesquite, NV. After the loss of her husband, Shirley relocated to Marysville to be near her brother Dean and his wife Frances. The three of them spent several fun-filled years traveling. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Eddie; and son, Ed. Survivors include her children, Harold James George, Narka, KS; daughter, Dorothy Johnston (Mike Smith) Grand Lake, CO; brother Dean (Frances) Richard, Marysville; two grandchildren, R. Dolan Patrick and April M. Patrick; nine great grandchildren, Trayton, Isaiah, Lexus, Brayden, Savanah, Jayden, Preston, Gaige and Jasmyne. Shirley was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be dearly missed by all. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later.
