Shirley Hight, aged 77, of Frankfort, KS, passed away on March 1, 2025, at the Frankfort Community Care Home.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Shirley was born on June 9, 1947, in Moberly, MO, the daughter of Bruce and Janet (Scott) Hight. In 1965, she graduated from Marysville High School. In 1966, Shirley was united in marriage to David Schell, and they were blessed with three sons. They later divorced.
Shirley briefly worked as a mail carrier for USPS, but throughout her life, she held various other jobs, as she lived in many different cities and states. Her favorite, however, was working as a tile layer and installing hard surface floors alongside Bob. No matter the job, Shirley was always a hard worker. She also taught her youngest son the trade, passing on her skills and work ethic.
One of Shirley's favorite memories was spending time with her family during Thanksgiving gatherings, once everyone had moved to Kansas.
Shirley was a true animal lover who also enjoyed drawing, writing, and spending time outdoors in the warm sun.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Bruce and Janet Hight; brother, Brice Hight; and husband, Robert Freeman.
Survivors include her sons, Darrin Schell, Washington, KS, Shannon Schell, Frankfort, and Shawn (Michelle) Schell, Frankfort; twelve grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, siblings, Evelyn Krug, Connie (Steven) Owens, Jimmy (Sandy) Keller, Bruce (Nina) Hight, Susan (Rick) McKernan, Bill (Janet) Hight, Jill (Darrin) Stithem, and Julie (Rob) Roever; and many nieces and nephews.
Shirley will be remembered as a kind-hearted soul with a deep love for animals.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary, P.O. Box 147, Marysville, KS 66508.
