Shirley M. Truhlicka, 95, of Marysville, died June 25, 2024 at Country Living in Marysville.
Visitation was Friday, June 28, from 1-9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary. The family received friends from 5-7 p.m.
A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 29 at Kinsley Mortuary. Pastor Andrew Lucas officiated.
The pallbearers were Corby Truhlicka, Eric Truhlicka, Chad Truhlicka. Rick Sienkiewicz, Kyle Rowbotham, Tyler Eiland, Tanner Truhlicka, Tristan Truhlicka, and Tucker Truhlicka.
Burial was in Maplewood Cemetery near Barnes, KS.
Shirley was born on October 4, 1928, to Floyd “Sport” and Lula (Diller) Tegethoff in Washington, KS. She is a graduate of Washington High School and Brown Mackie College in Salina, KS.
On February 18, 1951, she was united in marriage to Willis J. Truhlicka in Washington. They were blessed with two sons, Terry and Larry.
Shirley, a dedicated homemaker who was known for her hard work on the farm, her love for gardening, and her passion for crossword puzzles, playing cards, reading and word searches. Her family often called her a China doll, embodying grace and elegance in her style.
Shirley was not only a talented homemaker but also a devoted member of the Barnes Christian Church, where she generously contributed her time and skills. She was actively involved in singing in the choir, teaching Sunday school and spreading positivity and kindness to everyone she encountered. Later she continued her spiritual journey at the First Baptist Church of Marysville, where she continued to touch the lives of many.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband Willis; son, Larry Truhlicka; sister, Cleora Scheetz; brother, Forrest Tegethoff; and sister-in-law, Roine Tegethoff.
Survivors include son, Terry (Susan) Truhlicka, Ellensburg, WA; daughter-in-law, JoAnn Truhlicka, Dayton Beach, FL; sister, Leona Kalous, Topeka; brother, Lavern (Allece) Tegethoff, Salina; brother-in-law, Bob (Kaye) Truly, Montgomery, TX; and five grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
A memorial fund has been established to the Helvering Senior Center in Marysville. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary, P.O. Box 147, Marysville, KS 66508.
