Steve G. Shum

Steve G. Shum, 66, Stafford, NY, formerly of Marysville, died Tuesday, October 1, 2019. Visitation is Monday, October 7, from 3 until 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary.  The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m, Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. Burial will be in the Washington City Cemetery, Washington. Steve was born May 15, 1953 at Washington, KS. He attended school in Marysville, graduating in 1971.  After high school he attended Fairbury Junior College and worked for Swingsters in Fairbury, NE.  In 1976, he moved to Batavia, NY and started work as a general manager for Melton Company.  In 2000, Steve went to work for Sutherland Global Company, retiring in 2015. Steve enjoyed golfing, fishing gardening and working around the home.  On May 24, 1980, he married Donna Broberg at LeRoy, NY.  She survives. Other survivors include his mother, Bessie Shum; children, Brian (Kati) Shum, Chugiak, AK, Laura (Andrew) Shum, Milford, CT; brothers, John (JoAnn) Shum, Home, Larry (Kathy) Shum, Marysville, Keith (Becky) Shum, Eldorado; sisters, Cindy (Tom) Graham, St. Mary’s, Marie (Rob) Maloney, Wichita; and grandchildren, Novak Arledge, Parker Shum and Jackson Shum; and several nieces and nephews, aunts,  uncles and cousins. Preceding him in death were his father, C. Elvin Shum; and brother, William Shum.
