Steven D. Gibson, 75, of Oketo, KS, died December 9, 2022, at his home. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 14, 2022, from 5-9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, December 15, at the Beattie United Methodist Church. Rev. Jim Akins will officiate. The musicians will be Jody Turnbull and Carrissa Shirley. Music will include "How Great Thou Art" and "On Eagles Wings." The pallbearers will be Marvin Bernasek, Sheldon Voet, Jim Barr, Barry Studer, Dalen Floyd and Fred Gee. Burial will be held at a later date. Steve was born January 8, 1947, in Marysville, to Dean and Esther (Geishler) Gibson. He attended the Whiteway one room schoolhouse and then Summerfield High School. On November 21, 1969, he married Sandra Roesch at the Beattie United Methodist Church. To this union three children were born. Steve was a farmer and raised livestock. When he wasn’t farming or driving trucks, he enjoyed bird watching, hunting, and looked forward to fishing again. He was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Shelly Lyn Gibson, on July 21, 1987. Survivors include his wife, Sandra; sons, Shannon (Renee) Gibson, Axtell, KS, and Skyler (Liz) Gibson, Beattie, KS; brothers, Jerold (Cynthia) Gibson, Afton, IA, and Daniel (Karen) Gibson, Merriam, KS; and one granddaughter, Taylor Gibson.
