Steven "Jock" Fredrick Carlson, 65, Blue Rapids, KS, died Sunday, October 18, 2020 at his home. The funeral service was at 2 p.m., Friday, October 23 at the Blue Rapids Gym in Blue Rapids. The family asked everyone to dress casually. Mask were required. The service was live streamed from the Kinsley Mortuary Facebook page. The Officiant was Ron Feldhausen. Readers were Taylor Doner and Dan Smerchek and Tribute was by Alec Doner. The honorary pallbearers were Jimmy Flower, Larry Hemry, Randy Swearingen, Marvin Horalek, Kevin Height and Phil Bigham. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery. Steven was born March 7, 1955 at Marysville to John H. and Marjorie M. (McCoy) Carlson. In 1973, he graduated from Valley Heights High School. On April 27, 1974, he married Sue (Lockhart) Carlson at St. Mark's Episcopal Church. Steven was employed by the City of Blue Rapids and Titan Trailer MFG., Inc., before retiring. He was also the owner and operator of Jock's Bar in Waterville since 2003. He enjoyed Sunday night suppers with his family and his grandchildren were his pride and joy. Steven loved to watch his grandchildren's activities, spending time at the family farm, and ranger rides. His favorite holiday was Christmas. Steven was an avid sports fan and especially liked cheering for his Kansas Jayhawks. He also loved spending time with his Jock's customers. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Richard, Robert and Gary; and father-in-law, Floyd Lockhart. Survivors include his wife, Sue; daughters, Stephanie Carlson, Barnes, Sonja (Dan) Smerchek, Waterville; sons, Steven G. (Becky) Carlson, Waterville, and Scott (Kylie) Carlson, Blue Rapids; 5 grandchildren, Alec Doner, Taylor Doner, Preston Smerchek, Steven D. Carlson and Kali Carlson; mother-in-law, Marjorie A. Lockhart; sister-in-law, Bev Carlson (late Richard Carlson); brother, John Carlson; sisters, Ginny Jenkins (late Pete Jenkins), Sandra (Ralph) Miller, and Carol (Phil) Bigham; and numerous nieces and nephews.
