Timothy Patrick Olmsted, aged 80 years, peacefully entered rest on February 21, 2025, at the Frankfort Community Care Home.
Visitation was held on Monday, February 24, from Noon to 5 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. Following the visitation, a Rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. at St. Malachy’s Catholic Church in Beattie.
A Funeral Service to celebrate Tim's life took place at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 25, also at St. Malachy’s Catholic Church. Bishop Tom Olmsted officiated. The musician was Monica Anderson, and music included "City of God", "Eye Has Not Seen", "Here I Am, Lord", "The Summons", "The Irish Blessing, "Sing a New Song", and "The Auctioneer's Song."
The pallbearers were Clyde Scott, Ben Kirkland, Kevin O'Neil, Rodney Nolte, Jeff Sandstrom, and Tony Olmsted.
The honorary pallbearers were John Reed, Gary Dodd, Jim Dodson, Gary Pinick, and Dan Morley.
Tim was laid to rest at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Beattie.
Tim was born on November 2, 1944, in Marysville to Pat and Helen (Hughes) Olmsted. He spent his childhood on the family farm, located northeast of Oketo, KS. Tim attended Sunnyside Country School during his early years, graduated from Summerfield High School, and then spent a year at Peru State College in 1963. There, he played baseball before transferring to Emporia State University, where he earned his Bachelor of Business degree in the spring of 1967.
Tim found the love of his life, Rosalie Reed, while attending college at the Newman Center. The two were married in December of 1966 and were blessed with four children.
After spending time in Wichita, where Tim attended university for a semester and they both worked at Boeing Aircraft, they moved to Beatrice, NE. In 1968, Tim began his career at 1st Federal Savings and Loan. Soon after, the couple moved to Manhattan, KS, where Tim worked as a Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Agent. In 1975, they relocated to Beattie, where Tim joined First National Bank and started clerking auctions. This sparked his decision to earn his Real Estate License in 1976 and attend the Missouri Auction School in 1977, leading to the founding of Olmsted Real Estate and Auctions. Tim was involved in over 1,500 auctions and enjoyed every one of them.
Preceding him in death is his father; and son, Travis Olmsted in 2008.
Survivors include his wife, Rosalie; children, Thomas "Tom" (Jamie) Olmsted, Beattie, Dana (Tom) Kirkland, Marysville, Robert "Rob" (Veronica) Olmsted, Beattie; grandchildren, Tony Olmsted, UT, Megan (Blake Nations) Kirkland, Marysville, Ben Kirkland, Fremont, NE, Tighe and Vivian Olmsted, Beattie; mother, Helen Olmsted, Beattie; brothers, Jerry (Lu) Olmsted, Emporia, Bishop Emeritus Tom Olmsted, Scottsdale, AZ; sisters, Mary (Gary) Dodd, Branson, MO, Jane (Jeff) Sandstrom, Marysville, Monica (Scott) Anderson, Clay Center, KS; as well as Aunt Normie Robinson, Marysville; and many nieces and nephews.
In honor of Tim's legacy, a memorial fund has been established. Contributions may be sent to Kinsley Mortuary, P.O. Box 147, Marysville, KS 66508, with the specific designation to be determined later.
