Twyla Stichternath, 86, of Marysville, passed away January 1, 2023, at Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville. Visitation was Thursday, January 5, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary. A vigil service was held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, at St. Gregory's Catholic Church in Marysville. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 6, at St. Gregory's Catholic Church. Father Quentin Schmitz and Father David Allen officiated. The pallbearers were Chuck Meyer, Greg Meyer, James Meyer, Mark Dwerlkotte, James Baker and Travis Treff. Burial was in the church cemetery. Twyla was born April 11, 1936, at Marysville, the daughter of Paul and Lilly (Krause) Holle. She grew up on a farm north of Herkimer until her family moved to a farm west of Marysville. She attended school in Marysville and graduated from Marysville High School in 1954. She attended college at Kansas State, graduating with a bachelor's degree in accounting in 1958. Upon graduating, she worked in the accounting field including the USDA office in Marysville. On September 12, 1964, she married Gary Stichternath at St. Gregory's Catholic Church. They lived on a farm south of town where she lived the remainder of her adult life. She utilized her accounting skills on the farm, keeping the books and records for the farming operations. Twyla was a member of St. Gregory's Catholic Church, St. Gregory's Altar Society, American Legion Auxiliary and the EHU club in Marysville. She also was active in a women's community club known as Schroyer Club. Family was important to Twyla. She prioritized supporting them through life's challenges and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with them including her numerous nieces and nephews. Twyla enjoyed visiting and socializing with friends, especially when her and Gary were part of a local card party group in their younger years. She liked playing Pinochle. In later years, she enjoyed attending friends' birthdays and anniversaries to socialize and reminisce. She also enjoyed seeing her grandchildren visit the farm and enjoy all the farm activities. Survivors include one son, Eric (Kelli) Stichternath, Marysville, one daughter, Ginny (Andrew) Yarnell, Denver, CO; two grandchildren, Harrison and Claire Yarnell, Denver; sister, Paula Meyer, Marysville; sister-in-law, Josephine Allen, Wheat Ridge, CO; numerous nieces and nephews; and additional family, Jordan (Tanner) Benton and Connelly Benton. She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter who she loved dearly, Heidi Stichternath; parents; brother, Paul Holle; and brother-in-law, Alvin Meyer.
