Vernon E. Jeffries, 93, Frankfort, died Saturday, June 27, 2020 at the Frankfort Community Care Home. Visitation will be Thursday, July 2, from 2 to 8 p.m. at Padden Funeral Chapel in Frankfort. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 3 at Padden Funeral Chapel. Rev. Shannon Borgman will officiate. Pallbearers are Nathan McLeod, Damien McLeod, Michael Haakanstad, Hank Williams, Andy Carter and Stan Winslow. Honorary pallbearers are Debbie and Terry Foust. Vernon was born November 22, 1926 in Blaine, KS to Walter L. and Sarah M. (Earlywine) Jeffries. Most of his life was spent working in construction, farming and working with horses. He married Jennie Lewis and they three daughters, Verna, Roberta and Rebecca. Vernon enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, he attended his grandson’s college graduation from Beloit, and having Sunday brunch with his good friend Murph. Vernon loved his animals, gardening and any kind of handyman work. Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Jennie in 2014; daughters, Verna Lea Jeffries, Roberta Schreiner; brothers, Ronald Jeffries, Duane Jeffries; sister, Marjorie Kurtz; and granddaughter, Barbara Davis. Survivors include his daughter, Becky Miller, Topeka; sisters, Irene Kurtz, Blaine, Pat Adams, Frankfort; three grandchildren, five great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Padden Funeral Chapel.
