Wilbur G. Jueneman, 89, Hanover, died Sunday, April 24, 2022 at the Hanover Hospital, surrounded by his family. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday, April 29 at the Hanover Mortuary, Hanover. A vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Friday at St. John's Catholic Church, Hanover. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, April 30 at St. John's Catholic Church. Pallbearers are Michael Jueneman, Emmitt Jueneman, Michael Ysusi, Alex Gummersheimer, Kyle Pralle, Joel Piper and Aaron Diederich. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Wilbur was born to George and Eleanora (Swoboda) Jueneman on October 23, 1932 on the family farm north of Hanover. He was baptized on October 30, 1932. He attended St. John’s Catholic School graduating from the 8th grade. At the age of eighteen, he purchased his first dozer, a ’39 Caterpillar D6, with his first job for George Meyn, filling holes caused by the Little Blue River flooding its banks. He met Loretta Ruhkamp while building terraces on her parents farm and they were married June 23, 1962 at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church in Marysville. Wilbur quoted in 2021, “My love and still is, is getting on a machine and improving the land by stopping erosion.” He served as a Washington County Commissioner from 1990 to 1998, on the Hanover City Council, St. John’s Parish Council, St. John’s School Council and was a sixty-six-year member of KLICA. He also was a member of the Agency on Aging, Juvenile Detention Commission, Washington County Contractors Land Improvement Organization, North Central Processors Board and the Knights of Columbus. Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Loretta; grandson, Jackson Jueneman; sister Barbara Ramos and husband Dick; brothers, Orval Jueneman, Jim Jueneman, Robert Jueneman; and sister-in-law, Ellie Jueneman. Survivors include children, Ellen (Rick) Pralle, Bremen, Ruth (Russ) Holle, McPherson, KS, Frank (Melony) Jueneman, Hanover, and Amy (Wade) Gummersheimer, Columbia, IL; brothers, Leo Jueneman, Paul (Dolores) Jueneman, John (Barb) Jueneman, George (Kathy) Jueneman; sisters, Charlene (Dave) Behrens and Mary Jueneman; sisters-in-law, Alice Jueneman and Deanna Jueneman; and nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
