William Anthony "Bill" Sandmann, 96, of Marysville, KS, died Thursday, September 12, 2019 at Country Place in Marysville. Visitation was Monday, September 16, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. A rosary service was held at 7 p.m., Monday, at St. Gregory's Catholic Church in Marysville. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 17 at St. Gregory's Catholic Church. Father Nathan Haverland officiated. The musicians were Cindy Voet and Wayne Kruse. Music included “You Are Mine”, “Amazing Grace”, “On Eagles Wings”, “Go In Peace” and “City of God”. The pallbearers were Eric Sandmann, Brandon Sandmann, Todd Sandmann, Eddie Keating, Tom Sandmann and Don Bruna. Burial was in St. Gregory's Catholic Cemetery. Bill was born August 15, 1923 near Marysville, to Frank and Margaret (Cohorst) Sandmann. After the 8th grade he helped his dad with the farming. He also sold hail insurance for many years for the Cimarron Insurance Company. On April 24, 1945, he was united in marriage to Irene M. Bramlage at St. John’s Catholic Church in Hanover. In 1958, they moved to a farm near Beattie and farmed until retiring at age 62. After retiring he worked at Walmart doing small assembly. Bill enjoyed raising strawberries and sweetcorn, playing cards and dominos, meeting friends for coffee, and visiting with friends. Bill loved the time spent with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bill served on the Marshall County Soil Conservation District and Snipe Creek Watershed Boards. He was a member of St. Gregory’s Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Irene on July 14, 2011; daughter, Jeanne Sandmann; and sisters, Marie Bruna, Kathleen Dobrovolny and JoAnn Nider. Survivors include three sons, Bob (Deb) Sandmann, Frankfort, Jim (Lynette) Sandmann, Beattie, and Mark Sandmann, Frankfort; brother, Leo “Gus” Sandmann, Blue Rapids; sisters, Caroline Bruna-Gerstner, Marysville, and Rosemary (Harold) Travelute, Hanover; four grandchildren, Eric (Amanda) Sandmann, Brandon (Christina) Sandmann, Tonyia (Eddie) Keating, and Todd (Melissa) Sandmann, six great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and special companion, Marci Duensing. A memorial fund is established to St. Gregory's Catholic School or Meadowlark Hospice. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
