William D. Schwindamann, Sr.

William D. Schwindamann, Sr., 85, of Marysville, died Thursday, April 9, 2020 at Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville. Visitation will be Friday, May 8, from noon to 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary. A graveside funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 9 at St. Gregory's Catholic Cemetery in Marysville. Social distancing must be practiced. The service will be broadcast on the Kinsley Mortuary Facebook page. Willie was born on April 11, 1934 at Axtell, KS, to William C., Sr. and Gertrude (Schmidt) Schwindamann. He attended Marysville High School. Willie was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War, serving from 1953 to 1956. On June 21, 1958, he was united in marriage to Helen Hughes at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sabetha, KS. Willie owned and operated “Willie's Plumbing” in Marysville for over 25 years, retiring in 1996. He was a member of St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, Marysville American Legion, and was a 35 year volunteer and past Fire Chief for the Marysville Volunteer Fire Dept. which he enjoyed very much. Willie loved fishing, hunting, going to family reunions, and was a faithful blood donor for many years, giving over 70 units of blood. Survivors include his wife, Helen Schwindamann, Marysville; five children, Debra Schwindamann, Marysville, William Schwindamann, Jr., Marysville, Charles Schwindamann, Marysville, Angie (David) Luppen, Kimball, NE, and Ronald Schwindamann, Marysville; six grandchildren, Kristen McNett, Kellie Reed, Paul Schwindamann, Brian (Brittany) Luppen, Spencer Luppen and Dalton (Barry) Baber; ten great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Charles Carney; sisters and brothers, Chester Schwindamann, Beryl McBlain, Loretta Oliver, Anna Grotz, Carl Schwindamann, Leo Schwindamann, Betty Weyer and Jerry Schwindamann.
