Martha A. Meier, 97, died Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at Cambridge Place in Marysville, KS. Visitation was from noon until 5:00 p.m., Sunday, September 4, at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville, KS. A rosary service was held at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, September 4, at St. Gregory's Catholic Church. A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 5, at St. Gregory's Catholic Church. Father Quentin Schmitz officiated. Pallbearers were Brandon Cox, Erin Mayes, Jacob Cox, Justin Henrichs, Andrew Henrichs and Aidyn Meier. Floral arrangements were created by Owen’s Originals in Washington, KS. Music will be provided by Paula Landoll-Smith and Deb Landoll-Moore. Burial was in the church cemetery. Martha was born on December 2, 1924 in Marysville, KS to Frank and Martha (Smith) Wassenberg, the fifth of seven children. She attended St. Gregory’s Catholic School through the 8th grade and graduated from Marysville High School in 1942. On April 23, 1952, she married Victor Mark Meier at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church in Marysville, KS. She was a lifelong resident of Marysville. She was a member of St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, Altar Society and Hilltop EHU. She worked at Walmart for 31 years, retiring at the age of 90. In earlier years, she worked as a bookkeeper at Larabee Mills. Martha’s family was her pride and joy. She enjoyed spending time with family, playing cards, bingo and baking. Survivors include her children, Frank Meier (Kay Nordhus), Overland Park, Celeste Coonrod (Bill Jones), Little River, Geri Ann (Lynn) Henrichs, Odell, NE, Jane (Jim) Cox, Wamego and Mark Meier, Marysville; sister-in-law, Dolores Wassenberg, Marysville; grandchildren, Brandon (Brandi) Cox, St. George, Erin (Demi) Mayes, Hesston, Jacob (Rachel) Cox, Overland Park, Justin Henrichs (Julie Kalivoda), Diller, NE, Andrew Henrichs, Odell, NE, Amy Jones, Nickerson, and Desiree (Brian) Newell, Ellsworth; great-grandchildren, Aidyn Meier and Laynie Mayes, Hesston, Robert and Allie Cox, Overland Park, Emma and Eric Cox, St. George, Hunter, Ava and Creek Jones, Nickerson, Madison, Brooklyn and Reese Newell, Ellsworth; and numerous favorite nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Victor, on July 23, 1967; and siblings Margretha Landoll, Vera Landoll, Laurence Wassenberg, Raphael Wassenberg, Gerald Wassenberg and Paul Wassenberg; brother and sister-in-laws, Frank Landoll, Ray Landoll, Norma Wassenberg, Marie Wassenberg, Betty Wassenberg, Frances and Clarence Schwartz, Harold and Eileen Meier, Leonard and Eleanora Meier, Clarence and Lucille Meier, Alvin and Pearl Meier, John and Joan Hynek; and grandson Trey Jones. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for contributions to be made to St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, Meadowlark Hospice or Jones Family Fund. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
